Award Night Success!

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University student-athletes gathered to celebrate their academic and athletic success at the first-ever Blue & Golden Globes Awards dinner on Thursday, April 24, at Touchdown Terrace at Milan Puskar Stadium.
 
A total of 363 student-athletes were named to the Garrett Ford Academic Honor Roll. Additionally, teams and student-athletes were honored for their community service outreach, with Bryce Bohman of the men’s swimming and diving team earning the Male Student-Athlete Community Service Outreach Award, and Elizabeth Duarte of rowing received the Female Student-Athlete Community Service Outreach Award.
 
New this year, the WVU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) also handed out awards geared toward honoring personality-driven attributes. A list of select honors is below.
 
Coach of the Year: Nikki Izzo-Brown, women’s soccer
Rookie of the Year: Kadeisha Buchanan, women’s soccer
Fourth and Long: Sarah Martinelli, cross country
Comeback of the Year: Women’s Basketball
Best Game Face: Carly Black, women’s soccer
Sport Dopplegänger: Marika Hoskins (rowing) and Troy Polamalu
