MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Three members of the West Virginia University women’s soccer team opened camp with the Canadian Women’s U-20 Team on June 1, at Fortius Sport and Health Complex, in Burnaby, British Columbia.
The squad will face Korea Republic for a pair of closed-door U-20 Women’s International Friendly matches on June 7 and June 10. Korea Republic are the reigning U-19 Women’s Asian Champions.
Lawrence, a Toronto, Ontario, native, and Pierre-Louis, a native of Montreal, Quebec, attended the team’s last camp, held April 1-10, in Portland, Ore. Buchanan, a Brampton, Ontario, native, has been a backline staple for the Canadian Women’s National Team. She scored her first career international goal in the squad’s 1-1 draw against the United States’ Women’s National Team on May 8.
This week’s camp is the first of three this summer for the U-20 team. The squad will gather in Vancouver June 24-July 10, and will travel to Mexico for two matches July 16-21.
The Canadian’s U-20 World Cup Group A slate will open August 5, against Ghana, at BMO Field, in Toronto. The team will then face Finland on Aug. 8, also in Toronto, before traveling to Montreal for a match against Korea DPR on Aug. 12.
