MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University track and field team concluded its 2014 season at the 2014 Division I NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore, tonight, with three All-America honors.

"As we leave Eugene, we will leave knowing that our week was a huge success," says coach Sean Cleary. "We brought three young ladies to the nationals and all three qualified for the finals. All three return home with All-America distinctions and exceeded by far their ranking coming into the meet."

Senior Stormy Nesbit earned First Team All-America distinctions after finishing eighth in the triple jump. Nesbit’s leap of 13.03 meters is her third-best mark of the season.

"Closing the meet for us with Stormy's All-American performance was the highlight of our season," Cleary says. "The emotions involved with this group this week is without description. This is one of the highlights in our program's history."

Nesbit ends her career as the WVU school record holder in the event (13.19 meters).

After breaking the school record on Wednesday night in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, senior Sarah Martinelli finished 11th in the event to earn Second Team All-America honors.

Martinelli ran a 10:12.73 in the event and became the second Morgantown, W.Va., native in as many years to receive All-America recognition in the 3,000 steeple, after Jordan Hamric did so in 2013.

"Sarah and Stormy will leave very big shoes to fill," Cleary says. "We are looking forward to seeing who fills them."

Junior Allison Lasnicki concluded her season on Thursday night with the second-fastest time in school history in the 10,000 meters (33:46.22). She finished 17th overall in the event to earn Third Team All-America accolades.

The time for Lasnicki broke her previous season-best mark by 25 seconds and was just 10 seconds off her personal-best time of 33:36.11 set last season.

With the end of competition tonight, the Mountaineers’ 2014 season has concluded.
