West Virginia University second baseman Billy Fleming
earned Cape Cod Baseball League Player of the Week honors for his efforts at the plate last week (7/7-7/14).
The rising senior is a member of the first-place Bourne Braves and batted .519 (14-for-27) with five runs, four doubles and six RBIs last week.
For the summer season, Fleming is hitting .350 with 17 runs, six doubles, 17 RBIs, 20 walks, 16 strikeouts and one stolen base. In the Cape Cod Baseball League rankings, Fleming is No. 3 in batting and No. 3 in RBIs.
Fleming earned All-Big 12 First Team honors last year, ranking No. 2 in the Big 12 with a .351 batting average. The Churchville, Pa. native, added eight doubles, one triple, two home runs and 30 RBIs.
His season was highlighted with a cycle against Kansas on May 11. He became only the second Mountaineer to ever do so as Bob Spangler hit for the cycle during the 1998 season. Fleming finished 4-for-6 with three runs and two RBIs during that game.
