When one thinks of a Mountaineer, many character traits come to mind - hard working, loyal and passionate, just to name a few.

But what exactly does it mean to you to be a Mountaineer?

In conjunction with the “Be A Mountaineer” video series, the West Virginia University Athletic Department is hoping to find out just that.

“There's something unique about being a Mountaineer, and we want to give our fans the opportunity to tell and share their personal stories,” says WVU
Director of Athletic Marketing Markeisha Everett.

Beginning with the unveiling of the 2014 WVU football schedule poster on July 8, the eight-part “Be A Mountaineer” series will include interviews with select current members of the West Virginia football team, the Mountaineer Mascot, Michael Garcia, as well as cheerleaders and band members from The Pride of
West Virginia – The Mountaineer Marching Band, explaining what it means to be a Mountaineer.

Most importantly, though, the series will include submitted videos from you – Mountaineer Nation.

“At the end of the day, we all unite because of the Mountaineer pride that we carry in our heart. This is a great platform for Mountaineer Nation to come together and share in that excitement,” Everett says. “The main thing we want to accomplish is to get our fans to understand that we are all one and that being a Mountaineer is a privilege and an honor because of all the great things and people that make up our fan base.”

Fans can take part by submitting 15-30 second videos defining what they feel being a Mountaineer entails. Videos can be emailed to WVUSportsMarketing@mail.wvu.edu, with submissions due by July 31, 2014.

Select fan submissions will be featured weekly on WVUSports.com throughout the month of August.
