Coach Miha Lisac adds two newcomers to the roster for the 2014-15 season.
MORGANTOWN W.Va.West Virginia women’s tennis coach Miha Lisac announced today that Carolina Lewis and Yvon Martinez will join the team for the 2014-15 season.
“We are excited to have Carolina and Yvon join our program,” says coach Miha Lisac. “They will be great additions to the team, both on the court and off the court.”
TennisRecruiting.net ranks Lewis, a four-star recruit who comes from Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, as the 20th-best high school senior in the Southeast and 67th in the nation. Lewis also ranked as South Carolina’s No. 1 tennis recruit.
“Carolina brings a wealth of experience in international and USTA competition and will have a very positive impact on our program,” says coach Miha Lisac.
Martinez, a native of Colombia, comes to Morgantown as a freshman after having had success at Canon-McMillan High School (Pa.) last year. Martinez, a three-star recruit by TennisRecruiting.net, was ranked as the 27th-best high school senior in the Mid-Atlantic and eighth-best throughout the state of Pennsylvania.
“Yvon is a player with a lot of potential and has continued to make outstanding progress,” says coach Miha Lisac.
“Carolina and Yvon are both outstanding young ladies. It is equally important to us that players we are adding to the program are not only adding to our talent on the court, but to our team environment, as well as our potential in the classroom,” says coach Miha Lisac.
The duo joins Habiba Shaker and Emily Da Silva Chang as newcomers for the 2014-15 season. The Mountaineers return four players, including sophomore, Kaja Mrgole, whom posted a team-high 13 wins in the spring for the 2013-14 season.
