Former WVU first baseman Ryan McBroom has been selected to participate in the 2014 Northwest League All-Star Game set for Aug. 5 in Eugene, Oregon.
“It’s an honor to be recognized in such a great league that is full of tremendous talent,” McBroom says. “I want to give a big thanks to my coaches and teammates for the incredible opportunity.”
McBroom was drafted in the 15th round of June’s MLB Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays and was assigned to the Vancouver Canadians, the Blue Jays’ Short Season minor league affiliate.
With the Canadians, McBroom is batting .333 with 10 doubles, six homers and 31 RBI. In the Northwest League rankings, McBroom is third in RBI, fourth in batting average, fifth in home runs and sixth in doubles.
McBroom finished his career at WVU ranked No. 2 in games played (213), No. 2 in at bats (766), No. 3 in games started (201), No. 6 in RBI (162), No. 7 in home runs (29) and No. 8 in doubles (51).
