Women’s Rowing Earns C-USA Academic Award

The women's rowing team was recognized by Conference USA for it's outstanding academic success.
 
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. The West Virginia women’s rowing team was recognized by Conference USA on Monday for having the highest team GPA of any women’s rowing team in the league for the 2013-14 academic year.
 
The Sport Academic Award is given to the team in each conference-sponsored sport with the highest GPA for the academic year. Boasting a 3.344 team GPA, the women’s rowing team is one of 18 squads recognized by Conference USA for outstanding academic success.
 
“I’m pleased that our team has earned this award in each of the two years we were affiliated with C-USA,” coach Jimmy King said. “The award is a testament to our students’ year-long efforts and dedication toward their studies. In this regard the folks in Student Services are very much a part of our team and share credit for this honor.”
 
Throughout the 2013-14 school year, the women’s rowing team excelled in the classroom. Six individuals earned the Conference USA Commissioner’s Academic Medal, while two individuals were named to the All-Academic Team. In addition, two players achieved the Big 12 Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Achievement Award and seven National Scholar-Athletes were named by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association.
