Mountaineers in Pro Football Update

With the 2014 NFL preseason underway and the Canadian Football League season in full swing, it is time to take a look at which former West Virginia Mountaineer football stars are currently playing professional football in the NFL and CFL.

Tavon Austin
St. Louis Rams (NFL)

Baltimore, Md.
Austin enters his second season with the St. Louis Rams, after being selected him with the No. 8 overall pick of the 2013 NFL Draft. He appeared in 13 games last season, recording 418 receiving yards, 151 rushing yards and six total touchdowns.


Stedman Bailey
St. Louis Rams (NFL)

Miami, Fla.
Bailey was a third-round selection by the Rams in the 2013 draft. The former Mountaineer standout appeared in 16 games last season, registering 259 all-purpose yards and a touchdown.


Don Barclay
Green Bay Packers (NFL)
OT | 6-4 | 305
Cranberry Township, Pa.
Barclay was set to enter his third season with the Packers, before suffering a torn ACL on Aug. 5, 2014, while training with the team. Barclay has started 18 games for the Packers over the last two seasons, appearing in 30 games overall.


Scooter Berry
Montreal Alouettes (CFL)
DT | 6-2 | 285
North Babylon, N.Y.
Berry had stints in the NFL and AFL, before making the move to the CFL in 2012. He's in his third season as a member of the Montreal Alouettes and has posted 13 tackles, one sack and a fumble recovery.


Selvish Capers
Edmonton Eskimos (CFL)

New Orleans, La.
Capers was a selected by the Washington Redskins in the seventh round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He spent time with the Redskins and Giants in the NFL, before recently moving to the CFL.


Will Clarke
Cincinnati Bengals (NFL)

Pittsburgh, Pa.
Clarke was a third-round selection (No. 88) by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2014 NFL Draft.


Noel Devine
Edmonton Eskimos (CFL)
RB | 5-8 | 180
Fort Myers, Fla.
Devine has spent time in the NFL and UFL, before making the switch to the CFL in 2012. He spent two seasons with the Montreal Alouettes, before signing as a free agent with the Edmonton Eskimos in July of 2014.


Terence Garvin
Pittsburgh Steelers (NFL)

Baltimore, Md.
Garvin signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent on May 6, 2013. He appeared in 15 games for the Steelers in 2013, including one start. Garvin recorded 11 tackles last season.


Najee Goode
Philadelphia Eagles (NFL)

Cleveland, Ohio
Goode was a fifth-round selection of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2012 and was claimed off waivers by the Eagles prior to the 2013 season. Goode scored his first-career professional touchdown last season against the New York Giants.


Will Johnson

Johnson was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers on March 21, 2012. Johnson has appeared in 31 career games with the Steelers, including 31 starts. He also has two career touchdown receptions.


Adam Jones
Cincinnati Bengals (NFL)

Atlanta, Ga.
Jones has seven seasons of experience in the NFL. Originally selected No. 6 overall by the Tennessee Titans in the 2005 NFL Draft, Jones has spent time with the Titans, Cowboys and Bengals. He has appeared in 84 career games, recording 284 tackles, 10 fumble recoveries, eight interceptions and two touchdowns.


Bruce Irvin
Seattle Seahawks (NFL)

Atlanta, Ga.
Irvin was selected by the Seattle Seahawks with the No. 15 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. Irvin has appeared in 28 games and started 12 in his two seasons in Seattle. He has totaled 41 tackles, 10 sacks, one interception, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.


Ellis Lankster
New York Jets (NFL)

Mobile, Ala.
Lankster enters his fifth season in the NFL and fourth with the New York Jets. He was a seventh round selection with the Buffalo Bills in the 2009 NFL Draft. Lankster has appeared in 47 career games, registering 68 tackles, two interceptions, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble.


Pat McAfee
Indianapolis Colts (NFL)

Plum, Pa.
McAfee was selected in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. He has appeared in every Colts' game but one over the last five seasons, booting 366 total punts for 16,685 yards. He holds Colts career records in kickoffs, kickoff touchbacks, kickoff yards, punting gross average and punting net average.


Ryan Mundy
Chicago Bears (NFL)

Pittsburgh, Pa.
Mundy was selected in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mundy spent four seasons with the Steelers and one with the New York Giants, before being signed by the Bears in March of 2014. He has 141 career tackles, three fumble recoveries and two interceptions.


Chris Neild

Neild was selected in the seventh round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins. Neild has appeared in 24 career games, recording 16 tackles and two sacks.


Robert Sands

Sands was selected in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. Sands signed as a free agent with the Edmonton Eskimos on June 1, 2014.


Jock Sanders

Sanders has spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (NFL), the BC Lions (CFL), the Saskatchewan Roughriders (CFL) and most recently the Calgary Stampeders (CFL).

Houston, Texas
Sims is in his first season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, after being selected as the No. 69 overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft.


Steve Slaton
Toronto Argonauts (CFL)

Levittown, Pa.
Slaton was a third round selection in the 2008 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans. He spent four seasons with the Texans and one with the Dolphins, before making the switch to the CFL in April of 2014.


Geno Smith
New York Jets (NFL)

Miami, Fla.
Smith enters his second season with the New York Jets after being  selected in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft. Smith started all 16 games for the Jets last season, compiling more than 3,000 passing yards and 18 touchdowns.


Keith Tandy
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (NFL)

Hopkinsville, Ky.
Tandy was selected by the Bucs in the sixth round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He enters his third season in Tampa Bay, having appeared in 27 career games, including all 16 games last season. Tandy had three interceptions, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in 2013.


J.T. Thomas
Jacksonville Jaguars (NFL)

Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Thomas was a sixth round pick of Chicago Bears in the 2012 NFL Draft. He has spent the last two season with Jaguars, alongside fellow former Mountaineer standout Najee Goode. Thomas has appeared in 31 career games.


Pat White
Edmonton Eskimos (CFL)
QB | 6-0 | 205
Daphne, Ala.
White was a second round pick in the 2009 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins. White spent time with the Dolphins and the Redskins in the NFL, before making the move to the CFL in March of 2014.
