MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – As the No. 10-ranked West Virginia University women’s soccer team prepares to kick off its 2014 season at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium, WVU officials are planning several exciting promotions for Mountaineer fans.

“I’m excited for our fans – there are a lot of great matches scheduled for Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium this season,” said Mountaineer coach Nikki Izzo-Brown. “We’re looking forward to competing in Morgantown this year and defending our home-field advantage. We have the best fans in the nation, and we hope these promotions add to their enjoyment, as they come out to cheer us on this fall.”

Three “Dollar Days” are scheduled this season, with the first set for the Mountaineers’ home season opener against No. 12 Duke on Friday, Aug. 29, at 7:30 p.m. All tickets, hot dogs, popcorn and Coca-Colas are available for $1 each on “Dollar Days,” with the promotion also running for the Villanova match, set for Sept. 21, at 1 p.m., and the Big 12 home opener against No. 15 Texas Tech on Oct. 10, at 7 p.m.

WVU’s home opener on Aug. 29 also is a “Gold Rush,” with all fans encouraged to wear gold in support of the Mountaineers. Additionally, all fans will receive a 2014 women’s soccer schedule poster.

Sunday, Sept. 7, is “Youth Soccer Day,” and all area soccer teams are invited to DDSS to watch the Mountaineers battle UNC Greensboro and celebrate U.S. youth soccer month. Kids under 13, who bring a completed Musket Coloring Sheet to the DDSS gate, will receive one free youth admission and will be entered into a drawing to win a plush Musket toy. The coloring sheet can be found HERE. Additionally, fans will be able to take their picture with the 2013 Big 12 Conference regular-season and tournament trophies.

The first 200 Mountaineer Maniacs who attend West Virginia’s match against No. 19 Georgetown on Sept. 12 at 7 p.m., will receive a women’s soccer fan shirt. All fans in attendance for WVU’s Sept. 14 match against Duquesne at 1 p.m. will be able to meet the team for autographs following the competition.

The Sept. 19 match against La Salle at 7 p.m. has been designated as WVU Faculty/Staff Night, and all faculty and staff will receive a coupon via email for free admission.

In addition to “Dollar Day” on Sept. 21, a postgame clinic also is scheduled, with kids 13 and under who attend the match invited to a free clinic at Dreamswork Field following the competition. Also, the match is “Camper Reunion Day,” and all women’s soccer campers from this past summer are asked to wear their camp t-shirt to the game.

The Mountaineers’ Oct. 10 match against Texas Tech will be broadcast on NSCAATV.com. The first 100 Mountaineer Maniacs will receive a Maniac soccer scarf.

WVU’s annual “Pink Match” for breast cancer awareness is scheduled for the team’s contest against Oklahoma on Sunday, Oct. 26, at 1 p.m, and the first 200 fans will receive a women’s soccer wristband. Fans are encouraged to wear pink that day, and the team will present a check to the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center at halftime. The Mountaineers raised $10,374 for the cause this spring.

“Senior Night” is scheduled for the team’s regular-season home finale against Baylor on Friday, Oct. 31, at 7 p.m. WVU’s four seniors – Ali Connelly, Jess Crowder, Katie Osterman and Kate Schwindel – will be honored prior to the match. Additionally, the team will hold its first “Kick-or-Treat” event, with all fans encouraged to wear Halloween costumes and prizes awarded. Finally, it’s also WVU women’s soccer alumni weekend.

The Mountaineer Ticket Office is now offering a Varsity Sports Flex Plan, a bargain for families who plan on attending a WVU varsity sporting event. Flex plan packages are available for just $20. A package provides 10 vouchers redeemable for single game tickets at any of these WVU sporting events: women’s soccer, men’s soccer, volleyball, gymnastics and wrestling.

Flex plan packages can be purchased online HERE, by calling 1-800-WVU GAME or by stopping by the Mountaineer Ticket Office in the WVU Coliseum.
