MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – After going 2-1 on its home court, the West Virginia University volleyball team will hit the road when they head to Moon Township, Pennsylvania, to face the Robert Morris Colonials on Monday evening in a 6 p.m. match at the Charles L. Sewell Center.
The Colonials are off to an 0-3 start after competing in the Panther Invitational in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They dropped a 3-2 match to North Dakota State to close out the tournament following losses to Milwaukee (0-3) and Miami-Ohio (1-3).
WVU owns an 18-4 lead in the series, which started back in 1982 and took last season's meeting by a score of 3-0. However, it was Robert Morris that took the last meeting between the two teams at the Sewell Center. The Mountaineers dropped a 3-2 contest the Colonials in Moon Township in 2012.
The Mountaineers recently went 2-1 at the Gold & Blue Player’s Challenge at the WVU Coliseum this past weekend. After falling to No. 9 BYU, 3-0, to start the season, WVU rolled to 3-0 wins over both Toledo and IUPUI on Saturday. Jordan Anderson set the tone for the squad, recording 50 kills for an average of 5.56 per set this weekend and hitting .308 on the weekend. Evyn McCoy had 13 total blocks for the Mountaineers, while freshman Lamprini Konstantinidou averaged 12.22 assists per set and recorded six aces on the weekend.
