MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – On the heels of a 1-1 showing in its home opening weekend at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium, the West Virginia University women’s soccer team checks in at No. 13 in today’s TopDrawerSoccer.com Division I Women’s Top 25 Poll.
The Mountaineers (2-2) were ranked No. 11 in last week’s poll. WVU is one of two Big 12 Conference teams to appear in today’s poll, with Texas Tech (3-0) sitting at No. 10.
The poll’s top five remains unchanged from one week ago, with defending National Champion UCLA (3-0-1) coming in at No. 1 and Florida State (4-0) following at No. 2. Virginia (3-0) ranks No. 3, and Texas A&M (4-0) and Virginia Tech (4-0) rank No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.
The Mountaineers stay at home this week and play host to the WVU 90 Minute Classic on Sept. 5 and Sept. 7 at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. WVU meets Hofstra at 7 p.m. on Friday, and UNC Greensboro at 5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $5 for adults, and just $3 for youth and seniors. Groups of 10 or more can purchase tickets for $2 each.
Sunday is “Youth Soccer Day,” and all area soccer teams are invited to DDSS to celebrate U.S. youth soccer month. Kids under 13, who bring a completed Musket Coloring Sheet to the stadium gate, will receive one free youth admission and will be entered into a drawing to win a plush Musket toy. The coloring sheet can be found at HERE. Additionally, fans will be able to take their picture with the 2013 Big 12 Conference regular-season and tournament trophies.
