MORGANTOWN, W.Va – Six members of the West Virginia University women’s tennis team will travel to Norfolk, Virginia, to compete at the ITA Atlantic Regional Championships from October 14-18.
“We are excited to compete at regionals this weekend,” fourth-year coach Miha Lisac said. “It is a great opportunity for us to get better in singles and doubles play.”
The ITA Regionals will take place at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center on the campus of Old Dominion University.
On Friday, two Mountaineers will compete in the first round of the singles qualifiers. Goetz will take on Georgia Tech’s Cecilia Lynham at 9 a.m. ET on the indoor courts, and Lewis will square off with Rachael Nelson of James Madison at the same time on the outdoor courts. Should they win their matches, Goetz and Lewis will play again on Friday at 11:30 a.m. ET.
In the doubles main draw, Mrgole and Choo will compete against Rebekah Anderson and Aleksandra Panchenko of Liberty. Shaker and Jordan will also be in action against JMU’s Emma Peterson and Jona Roka. Both matches are scheduled for Friday, October 14, at 3 p.m.
Shaker will take on Liberty’s Anna Dollar in the first round of the singles main draw on Saturday at 2:15 p.m. ET on the outdoor courts.
The semi-final and final rounds for doubles play will be held on Monday, October 17, while singles will be played on Tuesday, October 18.
