WVU No. 26 in Current Directors’ Cup Standings

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University currently stands in 26th place in the 2016-17 Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup second winter standings.
 
WVU has compiled 406.00 points to date. WVU picked up 229.00 points in the latest poll, with rifle’s first-place NCAA finish contributing 100 points. Men’s basketball (64 points), women’s basketball (50 points) and wrestling (15 points) also counted toward the school’s latest standing. From the fall standings, WVU picked up 177.00 points from women’s soccer (90 points), football (57 points) and cross country (30 points).
 
WVU ranks second among Big 12 schools, with Texas at No. 12. The rest of the Big 12 schools and their rankings: Oklahoma State (No. 30), Baylor (No. 32), Oklahoma (No. 45), Kansas (No. 51), Iowa State (No. 56), Kansas State (No. 58), TCU (No. 75) and Texas Tech (No. 107).
 
Stanford leads all schools with 962.25 points, followed by Wisconsin (692.00), Ohio State (664.00), Michigan (661.25) and Penn State (647.25).
 
WVU has finished in the top 75 in the Directors’ Cup standings for 13 consecutive years, including a school-best 30th-place finish in 2009.
 
The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution’s finish in up to 20 sports – 10 women’s and 10 men’s.
