Assistant Athletic Director/Communications
As Assistant Athletic Director for Communications, Michael Fragale directs and oversees the sports communications unit as well as coordinates the content of WVU’s sports publications, broadcast properties and the Internet. He is also the secondary media contact for West Virginia football.
Fragale joined the athletic staff in June 1988, and served three years as associate sports information director, before becoming the broadcast/advertising manager in the summer of 1991. In that role, he managed affiliate relations, assisted in the production of the radio and television network, helped in WVU’s creative marketing campaigns and continued to work with the publicity efforts for Mountaineer football. He became the director of communications in 2004 and the assistant athletic director for communications in August 2007.
Fragale is a member of CoSIDA, WVU’s all-time sports committee and a member of the West Virginia Sports Writers Association.
A native of Flemington, W.Va., Fragale received his bachelor’s degree in journalism from WVU in 1986 and a master’s degree in sports management and administration from WVU in 1988. He and his wife, Kate, reside in Morgantown and have two children, Anthony and Emme.
