Brian Whiting joined the Mountaineer athletic staff as strength and conditioning coach in June, 2011. Whiting will handle the strength and conditioning responsibilities of the women’s basketball and women’s tennis teams at WVU.
He comes to West Virginia after a three-year stint at Michigan State, where he worked his way from a volunteer intern to a graduate assistant with experience in men’s and women’s basketball, men’s ice hockey, men’s soccer, baseball and wrestling, in addition to various other varsity sport teams.
A native of Plymouth, Mich., Whiting has experience in the classroom as an instructor and also as a personal trainer. He is a NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), a certified USAW Sports Performance Coach and is SCCC certified through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association.
Whiting is a 2009 graduate of Michigan State with a bachelor’s of science degree in kinesiology and holds a master’s degree in coaching cognate, also from Michigan State.
