Ryan Dorchester is in his second year as the Coordinator of Recruiting Operations within the West Virginia football program.

In his role, Dorchester serves in an administrative capacity, overseeing the operational aspects of football recruiting. He organizes the day-to-day recruitment of student-athletes, including building the program’s data bank of prospects and compiles information and video files.

He already has made an impact on the Mountaineer recruiting efforts as this year's class was ranked No. 25 nationally by rivals and among the Top 30 by other recruiting services, the highest in several years.

He is the liaison with the University admissions office, is the primary contact with the athletic compliance office regarding recruiting, oversees the correspondence with prospects and manages the planning of on-campus official and unofficial recruiting visits.

Dorchester coordinates the coaches’ travel schedule for recruiting and oversees and organizes the program’s records, checklists, calendars, research and recruiting boards. He also coordinates NCAA and Big 12 Conference rules testing for WVU, compliance reviews and meetings for the football staff with the school’s compliance department.

In his current position, he builds and maintains relationships with high school and junior college coaches to advance recruiting, assists with the planning of the annual clinic for high school coaches and coordinates the summer jobs program for the student-athletes.

Dorchester worked with the Mountaineer football program since 2004, when he joined the managerial staff as a student equipment manager and served in that capacity for four years. Since then, he has been a graduate assistant for recruiting, assisting with the day-to-day operations of the program’s recruiting efforts.

Dorchester earned his bachelor’s degree in history from West Virginia in 2008 and his master’s degree in higher educational leadership in 2010.
