Jen Butler joined West Virginia University in July 2012 as the primary athletic trainer for baseball and volleyball.

A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, she came to WVU from Marshall where she spent three seasons as an assistant athletic trainer with the Thundering Herd. While at Marshall, her primary sports included baseball and women’s basketball, while also overseeing the soccer, swimming and diving, volleyball and track and field teams. Butler served as a supervisor of the main athletic training room that accommodated 14 teams.

Prior to her tenure at Marshall, Butler was the head athletic trainer at Western Hills High in Frankfort, Ky., working with approximately 300 athletes.

Butler spent one season as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Eastern Kentucky, managing the daily operations of 17 sports, and working primarily with women’s basketball and men’s and women’s track and field.

Before arriving at Eastern Kentucky, Butler spent a year at Coastal Carolina where she worked with the football and softball teams.

Butler earned her bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Anderson in 2004. She received her master’s degree from Eastern Kentucky in 2007 in sport administration.
