Dan Hermsmeier enters his first year as a graduate assistant for the West Virginia University rifle team.
The Chesterfield, Missouri, native comes to WVU from the University of Memphis, where he competed with the Tiger rifle team for four years. The six-time First Team All-American was the USA Shooting Junior Air Rifle National Champion in 2011, also earning a silver medal in the men's division. He also qualified individually for the NCAA Championship in 2011, 2012 and 2013. Serving as the captain of the Tigers, Hermsmeier's team also competed in the NCAA Championships in 2014, earning a program-best fourth-place finish after being ranked No. 12 in the CRCA Preseason Poll. He was also named to the inaugural Lapua All American First Team in 2014.
The two-time College Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) All-Academic Team member is a four-year member of the US National Development Team. He also serves as the Assistant Director for the Civilian Marksmanship Program during his summers, which coordinates high school rifle clinics across the country. His international experience includes matches in Germany and the Czech Republic.
Hermsmeier recently graduated with honors from the University of Memphis and earned a Bachelors Degree in Accounting. He is pursuing a Masters Degree in Accounting during his time at WVU.
