Grant Dovey is an assistant sports information director in the West Virginia University sports communications office, having joined the athletic department staff in December 2012.
In his current role, Dovey serves as the primary media contact for the baseball, nationally-ranked men’s soccer and swimming and diving teams.
Previously, Dovey spent time as a graduate assistant (June 2011-December 2012) and three years as a student assistant (2008-11) in the WVU sports communications office.
During that time he co-authored the 2010 men’s soccer media guide that was ranked No. 3 nationally by CoSIDA, while also publicizing two appearances in the second round of the NCAA tournament by the men’s soccer team.
With the swimming and diving teams, Dovey has helped promote the efforts of 10 Honorable-Mention All-Americans and 15 NCAA qualifiers since 2008-09 season.
Dovey spent the summer of 2012 in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., where he worked at The Greenbrier Classic, a PGA TOUR event that won the distinction of “Best in Class.” His duties included managing three Pro-Am events, while also working with golf vendors to ensure participants received appropriate vendor gifts. He also did numerous graphic and design work, and assisted with operational plan implementation.
The Downingtown, Pa., native graduated from West Virginia University in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, specializing in public relations. He received a master's degree in sport management from WVU in 2013.
