MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University women's basketball coach Mark Kellogg announced the addition of Chanté Murray for the 2026-27 season, after signing her National Letter of Intent.
"We are thrilled to add Chanté to our Mountaineer family. She is a versatile player on both ends of the court that will fit nicely into our system," Kellogg said. "Defensively, she will impact the game and be disruptive with her length and athleticism. Offensively, she can get to the rim off the dribble, score at mid-range and shoot the three. Her international experience with the Canadian National Team will help in her transition to Big 12 basketball. Let's all welcome Chanté to West Virginia."
Chanté Murray | Mississauga, Ontario, Canada | Crestwood Preparatory College
A 6-foot-1 wing/small forward out of Mississauga, Ontario, and is currently playing her senior season at Crestwood Preparatory College, the premier high school basketball team in Canada, and for her travel AAU team, Kia Nurse Elite. In high school she averaged 19 points,9 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks per game.
She is the fourth-ranked player in Canada's 2026 class and is the No. 90-ranked player in the class of 2026 according to SportsCenter NEXT 100.
Murray brings along international experience with Team Canada at the 2024 FIBA U18 Women's AmeriCup. There, she helped lead Team Canada to a silver medal. During the same 2024 season, she was also named an All-Star at the All-Canadian Games.
Outside of international competition, Murray plays for Kia Nurse on the Nike EYBL circuit, one of the most competitive AAU leagues in North America and the only Jordan-sponsored Nike EYBL program in Canada.
So far in 2025, she has been named a First Team OSBA All-Star at Crestwood Prep and the NPH Athlete of the Year. She was also a McDonald's All-Canadian Team nominee this season.
Murray intends to major in Business and Sport Management while at West Virginia University.
She is the daughter of Garfield Murray and Josie Martin, and has one brother, Jamar. Her brother played collegiate basketball at Navarro Junior College in Texas before transferring to Charleston Southern.
