
Mountaineers Welcome Houston for Thursday Night Thriller

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team (13–7, 1–7 Big 12) is set to host Houston (8–12, 1–8 Big 12) at Hope Coliseum on Thursday, October 30, with first serve scheduled for 6 p.m. ET.
Thursday's game is Halloween Spiketacular, fans are encouraged to attend in costume. Candy will be distributed, and a costume contest will take place between the second and third sets. Masks are not permitted inside the venue.
Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance by visiting WVUGAME.com or calling 1-800-WVU GAME. When purchasing online, tickets are $10 each and $7 each for groups of 10 or more. Any remaining tickets are $12 at the ticket window on match day.
WVU student tickets are available at the Mountaineer Ticket Office, located at the Hope Coliseum, and are free with a valid WVU Student I.D. The office, as well as the stadium gates, opens at 5 p.m. on game day.
Alex Wiederspiel and Sam Bailey have the call of Thursday's match on ESPN+, while live stats are available at WVUsports.com.
This will be the sixth all-time meeting between the Mountaineers and Cougars, with Houston holding a 5–0 lead in the series. The Cougars last visited Morgantown in 1987.
Statistically, WVU enters the match ranked top five in the Big 12 in four categories. It is fourth in aces per set (1.50) and hitting percentage (.265) and fifth in service aces (117) and total blocks (191.0)
Individually, redshirt junior setter Alexis Finnvold ranks third in the conference with 32 service aces and aces per set at 0.41. Junior middle blocker Maddy McGath stands sixth in hitting percentage (.358), 12th in total blocks (83.0) and 16th in blocks per set (1.06). Senior middle blocker Laila Ibrahim ranks 14th in total blocks (81.0) and 10th in blocks per set (1.16). Senior libero LonDynn Betts is fifth in total digs with 281.
West Virginia looks to regain momentum after dropping its last match in five sets to Utah on October 24.
Houston enters Friday's match with an 8–12 overall record and a 1-8 mark in Big 12 play, following a five-set loss to UCF on Oct 22. The Cougars are led by head coach David Rehr, now in his seventh season at the helm of the Cougars. He has an overall record of 271-152.
